A Herd of Mules?

Arguably one of the most ordered cocktails around… the Moscow Mule. With a fun history of how excess and error mixed with creative ingenuity can turn in to something so fun and delicious, this is another one you’ll want to know how to make when your friends drop by for a visit.

Next to drinking your booze neat, Mules are the possibly easiest and most versatile cocktail you can make, because no matter what spirit you like, everything goes great with ginger. From vodka all that way to scotch... it won’t disappoint.

The recipe for our house Mule at Craft Lounge is actually printed right on the back of each bottle of House Made Ginger Syrup we sell. So here we’ll go leave you with a few different variations so you’re never bored.

Ps. Don’t forget your favorite copper mugs! The really do make a difference.

The Moscow Mule:

1.5 oz. Vodka

1 oz. House Made Ginger Syrup

.5 oz. Lime Juice

4-5 oz. Soda Water

Grab your favorite copper mug, add the vodka, ginger syrup, and lime juice in the bottom. The ginger syrup is thick and sticky so you’ll need to give it a stir before you add in the soda water.

Add the soda on top and give it a light stir again. Add your ice and garnish it with a lime and big bouquet of mint. The mint helps give your cocktail a sweet herbily nose, and we all know that you taste 80% with your nostrils.

And just like that you’re done!

Now just make them over and over again for all your closest friends.

Mules are also a great one to batch up (pre-make) so you can enjoy the party! Just premix the vodka, lime, and ginger syrup, and add the soda as needed.

A few other common variations are:

The London Mule:

It’s super tricky… are you ready? We’re just swapping the vodka for gin in this one. Grabbing a really good London Dry Gin is best for this, think Beefeaters or Tanqueray.

1.5 oz. London Dry gin

1 oz. House Made Ginger Syrup

.5 oz. Lime Juice

4-5 oz. Soda Water

The Irish Mule:

1.5 oz. Irish Whisky

1 oz. House Made Ginger Syrup

.5 oz. Lime Juice

4-5 oz. Soda Water

The most popular Irish Whisky in America is Jameson. Our other suggestions include (but are not exclusive to) Bushmills, Tullamore Due, Sexton, Hellcat Maggie just for a starting list.

The Kentucky Mule:

1.5 oz. Bourbon

1 oz. House Made Ginger Syrup

.5 oz. Lime Juice

4-5 oz. Soda Water

Really any Bourbon will do here for this one, and there are thousands on the market and in a wide range of prices. Our favorite for the price is Ancient Age, and we use it in Craft Lounge quite often.

The Drug Mule:

Feelin’ lucky punk? We did give a nod to our old pal Clint Eastwood when we created this one. So mix it up and watch the movie, you’ll be glad you did (probably).

1.5 oz. Tequila

.5 oz. House Made Ginger Syrup

.5 oz. House Made Cola Syrup

.5 oz. Lime Juice

4-5 oz. Soda Water

This one actually gets its name not just from Mr. Eastwood, but rather due to the origin of the main spirit in this one. Then we garnish it with a lavish mint bouquet and healthy shake of powdered sugar on top.
